Ross Hecht, Nebraska ‘54 Receives National Award at 2013 Conclave

After 62 years of service to his chapter, Brother Hecht holds a legacy that is both long and profound. He served Nebraska Alpha as an undergraduate leader, then as an alumnus. In the 1960s he lead a campaign to double the size of the house. Thirty years later, he lead efforts to raise $1.5 million to renovate the home. Over the years, many members have enjoyed visits to Hecht’s home where they receive mentorship and guidance. Last year, the more than 120 brothers of his chapter raised $200,000 in just a few days to establish a memorial scholarship in his name.
The Order of the Golden Heart award was conceived by past Grand President Bedford W. Black and was first awarded in 1959 at the 26th Grand Chapter Conclave.

SigEps and the 6th Annual Sandhills Marathon

SigEps Erik Hash, '98, Andy Pollock, '88, Scott Schwartz, '92 and Kyle Arganbright, '05, participated in the 6th Annual Sandhills Marathon June 10th, in Valentine, NE.

While 200 people from 25 states and the District of Columbia entered, the reports of blazing heat and high winds caused the actual attendance to drop to 143. (Clearly, all the lightweights from outside of Nebraska didn't know we deal with blast furnace conditions like that every day in the summer.) Erik ran the marathon, Andy and Scott put it on, and Kyle volunteered.
